Nice site! I'm John Kent Delaney with a brother William Patrick Delaney and 4 sisters Rae Anne, Patricia Kay, Ann Marie, and Mary Beth. My father William Fredrick Delaney (Bill), had 3 brothers; Delmar (Del) , John, and Walter (Wallie) and two sisters Deidra (Dee) and Milred (Millie). They were raised by an aunt around Peru-Lasalle, IL. USA. All brothers served or died in WWII. Although I never met my uncle John and namesake, he was a vet and I've met his son Del. We grew up in Wisconsin, but I now live in Colorado and find a Lake John and Delaney Buttes lakes around Walden CO. Interesting, and intriguing family!

I hope to get back to Ireland again someday and will definitely take in twomileborris this time. Keen to get a copy of the distillation book (It's the scientist/whiskey drinker in me!!!)

Hello -- I'm doing research for an article about
the fishin' Delaneys(Delanys) from Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. William and wife Lavinia
sold jewellery and metal fishing lures circa
1880 and Henry T.and John Delaney sold guns,
decoys and metal fishing lures around 1869-70. I need to know the relationship between William and Henry and John. Williams's dad was 'old' John Delaney born in 1788, married to Fanny. Henry's dad was
Cornelius. Dont know younger John's dad or how Cornelius and John's dad connect. I'm trying to do an article on the history of Canadian fishing tackle makes of the 1800's, and the Delaneys feature prominently.

I have traced my Delaney connections back to Derryogue, County Down NI in 1893 when my grandfather's birth was registered at Kilkeel. My Grandfather was Patrick L Delaney and my Great Grandfather was Francis [Frank] Delaney a teacher/head teacher. I know that my grandfather had brothers one called Frank and the other called Richard [a catholic priest]. All are now dead and have been for many years so that's as far as I have managed to get.

Although my children have not yet shown any great curiosity in their genealogy, I would like to be able to leave as many signposts as I can. Has anyone got any ideas, leads, contacts I can pursue.

Hello, fellow Delaneys'

Just to add to the general history.
I was born Dec. 20, 1937 in Phila.
My father, Timothy, was born 1910 and died 1970 in Phila.
My grandfather, Timothy, was born 1880 in Clonmel, Tipperary and died 1976 in Phila. I believe his father's name was also Timothy.
I can't trace any further back at this point.
If anyone knows anything about this I would appreciate information.

Thanks, Tim Delaney

Well isn't this a bunch of fun!? My Delaney ancestors settled to start their American life in Avoca, Wisconsin, USA. I descend from P.J.Delaney from County Wexford, who opened a saloon in Muscoda, still in operation after 150 plus years, and was a farmer.

Any Delaneys out there with Avoca, WI roots???

I am writing this message because I am in desprate need to find out my past and family history. I am an African American Delaney and many of us are trying to find out how we came upon this beautiful lastname that makes me proud and who I am every time i say it. So just know that there are very many African American Delaneys in the U.S. and mainly in Virginia, North Carolina, and some parts of Maryland so if any one knows any thing post a message up. Thank God for making us one

I have found no reference to my Grandparents, Frank Delaney and Charlotte (Rountree) Delaney from Thomasville, Georgia USA. They had twelve children, all of which are believed to be deceased. I was born to Haskell Delaney and Mamie (Glenn) Delaney on Long Island in New York where I still reside. Does anyone have any background information?

Fascinating site. My wife (Julie) has taken the dive into Delaney family history. My branch was the emmigration of the Widow (Ellen) Delaney to New York with her son (Thomas) around 1858. I have warned my wife that she might turn up 1/10 of an acre, one cottage, one cow and one pig. She is not swayed. I do like your site. I was in Australia some years ago. Had I known that there was Delaneys about I would have stood for a pint!

Cheers! I am just beginning my search. My father is Thomas Joseph DeLaney. My grandfather Thomas Delaney married Mary Ellen Murphy in Buffalo NY in 1899. His father was John Delaney, I can't read John Delaney's wife's name, but Ann Du.... is as far as I get. Thoomas's wife Mary Ellen was daughter of James Murphy and Catherine Kelley.

Any suggestions or links that anyone knows of??

Thanks so much

I am intersted in making comnnections with some Delaneys from Larkhall. My father, Edward, came to Australia from Larkhall in about 1925 or 1926.
His father was James Delaney and his brothers were James and Tom,sisters were Ellen and Elizabeth.
I recently met in Australia, Winifred Delaney who came to Australia about the same time, about 1925. Her family came from somewhere in Lanarkshire. Perhaps it was Cleland. Her father had been a miner in Scotland.

Wow!!! I feel really overwhelmed reading all the history about us Delaneys. I always wondered growing up where I was from. Am I just a New Zealander? Now after coming across this site I know I belong to a huge family which is rich in heratige. I feel truely proud and blessed. I also found it amusing that James Delaney is a name that comes from way back and it is also the middle name i gave to my son!
Great work with the site.

As the grandaughter of Phyllis Edna Beasley{recently deceased} I found Delaney's Corner and other information really interesting. Tom Delaney was my great great grandfather. I would be interested in any familly get togethers or events. He sounds like he was a real character as are the Beasley clan. I think I will take a trip up in the next few weeks and have a look around.

Interesting site. My family came here to Scotland from Ireland at the end of the 19th Century. There are loads of us in the Glasgow area and particularly in Lanarkshire. I am from the village of Cleland and the area is full of Delaneys! Thought you'dlike to know about a relatively recent famous Delaney from here in Scotland. My geat uncle Jimmy Delaney was a very famous Scottish footballer in the 30's 40's and fifties. He played for Glasgow Celtic , Manchester United,Shamrock Rovers etc etc - the only footballer to have won a league cup winners medal in Scotland, Ireland and England apparently, and Sir Matt Busbys first signing at United.
Intersted to hear from Delaneys worldwide

Well what can I say. I went to the reunion and it was to say the least overwhelming to see all the decendants that I didn't know. I had the most wonderful time and glad that myself and my sister came down from Brisbane to attend. Apart from cathing up with family members it was great to see where exactly it all started. I give a pat on the back for all the people that organised this wonderful reunion what a great job. Once again myself and my sister enjoyed ourselves at the reunion.

Nice to see so many Delaney's out in the world. Unfortunately most of the family history was lost when my Grandmother past away. The only things that I know outside of my immediate family is about William E. Delaney who is buried in Tombstone Territory,AZ,in the year 1884 and that one of our relatives was accussed of being a horse thief, not sure if that happened in America or Ireland. My father is James Garfield Delaney III, my Grandmother was Ruth K. Delaney. If anyone would be able to help me find out more about my family outside of the US I would much appreciate it thanks.

I happened to look at a map of Ireland hanging in my room and noticed the town Twomileborris. Its similarity to my own name had me intrigued, after already completing a fairly extensive generology of the Kaveney, Finneagan, Flannagan and Kennedy side of my family, so I did alittle online research and found your neat site. Are there any Twomeys in Twomileborris?

Hi Maurice,
I just sent an email to you seperately and came back to the site to browse and read the guest book, then I remembered that I had a childhood friend in Southfields, London, UK. He was called Niel Delaney and his folks were Jim and Ann. I guess they are still in London somewhere. The last I heard was that they had moved to Wimbledon. His dad Jim worked in some big IT company like IBM back in the mid to late seventies. Oh yes we all used to go camping alot and on those rambles were you have to race to locate places on a map, get there and stamp your card. I can't remember what it's called?

Well that's another 3 Delaneys for you all.

Email me soon Maurice
