[NI1024] Dad worked at many things, with the PMG on the Lines, and painting houses. He was a sports fanatic. He was a great runner, hence the nickname "Rocket", he ran like a rocket. He enjoyed bike riding and umpiring Aussie Rules Football in the Hampden League. He was always involved in helping the community in some way, later becoming a local councilor. As, children we were dragged along to many sporting events, especially running and football. Sunday was always Mass, and a drive in the country with a picnic. Laurie was a very fastidious man, especially with his appearance and any jobs he undertook. He was a hard worker with a warped sense of humour, and an "Irish Temper" - especially after a few drinks.
