[NI2005] John Charles Trickey, grandson of Maria & Jack Beasley, started hi care er in tennis when his father built a tennis court in their back yar d. At the age of 8 he was playing in junior teams, and won many junior t itles at the Altona Tennis Club. John won titles in the Under 12 & Und er 16's competions, at the age of 11 years. Later he won the "Western Subu rbs' Senior Title" at the age of 15 years, also winning the State Junior T itle, beating Paul McNamee in the final. After winning he was invited in to the State Junior Squad, to be coached by Neil Fraser and Harry Hopma n. He also won many doubles titles with Paul McNamee. At 17 years, he w as playing in Senior Tennis and won many doubles with his then partner, Tr evor Little. He travelled overseas at 18 years of age, and played at Wimb ledon for 3 years, untill he injured his back and then retired from playi ng the circuit. He coached tennis for 5 years at the famous "Roache's Clu b" in Germany, before returning to Melbourne. He coached our top tennis g irls at the Melbourne Tennis Centre, and was then promoted to National Ten nis Coach, travelling overseas for 5 years, with our top ladies team. Jo hn has since married and started a family. He coaches privately as we ll as coaching the top junior boys at the Melbourne Tennis Centre.
