[NI0095] Submitted My Grandmother, Bridget Murnane lived in Denham St., Hawthorn, and we liv ed in the nest street at 50 Connell St. I remember visiting her with M um and the other children of Dulcie & William Murnane. I have vague thoug hts of Dad coming home from the army for grandma's funeral. I also remember visiting Grandma at the Kew Hospital, perhaps with Josie D elaney, I would have been 9 when she died. Josie Delaney (married to Jack Smith by that time, with a daughter, Hele n) was staying with my mother in March 1951. Mum went in to get Hel en to give her early morning bottle to save Josie having to get up, and Jo sie was dead in bed (the bed that was mine until I moved to Bernie in 195 0) It was of course a shock to Mum Josie was a very well loved person. Sometime after that Mum and the others: Jim, Frank, Joan and John mov ed to Ringwood to a war service home, that was built for them. Jim marri ed Pat Amott and John marrie Lorna Booth. But Frank and Joan stayed wi th Mum and were still there till she died in February 1973. Joan later moved out and Frank sold the house, Target's car park, n ow is where the house was. Frank moved to Loughman's Rd., North Ringwoo d. Sad to say Frank committed suicide in February 1986. Frank was always very conscious of his height (or lack of it). We ha ve a document about Thomas Murnane, who was 5 foot u inch tall; and Fra nk was about the same. Jim and John are about 6ft tall, I'm 5 ft 7 ins a nd Joan about 5 ft 5 ins. I will be moving house in a few weeks, having lived here since May 195 2, 51 years. But have had enough of gardening and mowing lawn s, so am in the process of selling. 7th August 2003 When we all get together there are 15 of us: 3 children, 3 in-laws, 8 gran dchildren.
