[NI1216] Submitted by Mary Lineen John [Beau] was born in Colac in 1904, and went to school at Alvie, St Bre ndan's in Coragulac, and St. Patrick's College in Ballarat. He had to ret urn to help on the farm, and there remained for the rest of his life, cari ng for the family. He never married. He was a great entertainer and come dian. He played the violin....in any position, on top of his head or behi nd hia back, much to the wonderment of his nieces and nephews! As a you ng man he played football and tennis, as "Athlone" had a tennis cour t. He helped his sister Mary, put on concerts for the war effort and vari ous charities, and with his talents, contributed to community life. He co ntinued the farm business of dairying and onion growing, until his heal th failed after a stroke. He died in 1969.
