The above is a web-forum I run for retired Merchant Seamen.

I am researching my family history and in particular my great grandfather Timothy O'Dwyer place of berth Clonmel, Co. Tipperary DO Baptism 30/7/1841. I know his father's name was also Timothy and he was also born in Clonmel, I also know my great grandfather dropped the 'O'from the family name when they arrived in Liverpool,Uk circa 1876.
What I would like to know is did he leave any siblings in Clonmel and who could I contact to find this information?
Cheers to all.

I moved to W'bool approx 10 years ago lived in Port Fairy, now back in W'bool. Raised in Melb I am really 'coming home'. I was treated to some detailed family history recently and came across the original Irish O'Dubshlaine(?) spelling of our Name. Wonderful site thanks Carol

Hello. As you can tell i am a Delaney. I am very proud of my name and i love finding out about it. I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Texas. The farthest the name went here (as we know by the living) was my great grandfather Style Elmer Delaney who was said to have moved away from his family and didn't have the means to keep touch. He died when my grandfather was six so not a lot of information is available on exactly where he comes from. but anywhoo...maybe i will find out one day!!!

Hi there

Its been really interesting coming across the Murnanes on your website. My grandfather was David Murnane, Municipal Engineer for Singapore until he was captured by the Japs and put in Changi POW camp. My father was sent to boarding school in England and landed up in Africa at 18 to go to uni in Cape Town and then married my mum in the then Rhodesia. They now both live in Zimbabwe which is in a horrific state. Family dramas still continue...if its not a world war its an african civil war. Would be interesting to see if we link into the Delaney's family tree.

Cheers
Lucy

You should consider a link on famous delaneys, I know for a fact that Jonothon Brown's mum, is a mugavin, descendant of one of the delaneys. Could be an interesting to subject to explore. cheers

I am researching my Delany family in Ireland and would appreciate any help if you have a connection. My gg grandfather John Delany immigrated to Illinois USA in 1837 and married his wire also from Laois County Ireland Bridget Maher. I have not been able to find out anything about Bridget, and all I know about John's family is that his parents were Thomas John Delany and Elizabeth Shiels of Blandsfort, Laois (Queens County) Ireland. John had 11 other siblings that remained in Laois and so we should have many cousins still in the area.

What a tonic!! Fantastic site - never realised just how witty, talented, far-travelled we Delaneys are.

I intend to emmigrate to NZ (2009) and was doing a bit of research when I stumbled across this site - my branch of the Delaney Clan stay in Fort William Scotland. My Grandfather Michael Bernard Delaney originated from Co Kildare and left to work on the tunnels following the end of WW1.
Does this seem familiar to anyone? Keen to learn more.

Hi Guys,

Stumbled across your page today whilst serching for some of my rello's (Mary Ellen O'Leary and John James {Jack} Farrell in particular).

WOW, what a huge amount of research you have all done, congratulations to all involved this is tremendous effort, it is a fabulous effort and one you should all be very proud of.

I grew up in Colac where my parents had the Taxi's for many years and I had heard many of the names you mention here, now I have a good record to see where they all fit and who they belong to, I'll certainly be bookmarking this site in my favourites.

Many thanks to all involved

Cheers

Nice site! I'm John Kent Delaney with a brother William Patrick Delaney and 4 sisters Rae Anne, Patricia Kay, Ann Marie, and Mary Beth. My father William Fredrick Delaney (Bill), had 3 brothers; Delmar (Del) , John, and Walter (Wallie) and two sisters Deidra (Dee) and Milred (Millie). They were raised by an aunt around Peru-Lasalle, IL. USA. All brothers served or died in WWII. Although I never met my uncle John and namesake, he was a vet and I've met his son Del. We grew up in Wisconsin, but I now live in Colorado and find a Lake John and Delaney Buttes lakes around Walden CO. Interesting, and intriguing family!
